Fall on the West End

By

The 44 miles on the far western side of the path

Maybe beautiful the whole year long

But walking in fall you cannot go wrong.

At this time of year the path is at its best.

With fewer people out in the chilly air

It’s the perfect time if you dare.

The first reason to check this part out in the fall

Is the amount of peace and quiet you can expect

With only the occasional encounter with people to detect.

The animals are out preparing for the winter’s nap.

Deer, birds, and other creatures out in the silence

A reason all on its own showing you that it is simple brilliance.

Not only is there lighter traffic on the trail,

It is easier to find a place to park or eat a picnic lunch.

Check it out if the weather’s nice, you won’t regret it, it’s just a hunch.

Of course one of the best reasons of all

To come to the trail in the midst of a cool Fall

Is the beautiful coloring of the leaves in the trees so tall.

The magnificent sight of the trees at this time of year

Trees not yet bare, just starting to shed each leaf like a tear

It’s something you’ll never forget, and the time in the chill, you won’t regret.

The leafs are just starting to change in this picture. The whole trail is just so breathtaking especially in the fall with all the colors and in areas where the trees meander through the rocks
