Penn Roosevelt State Park & Country Roads

By

On September 8, 2017 the WooFDriver took to the Penn Roosevelt State Park and the surrounding country roads for a Furwheeling mushing adventure. The park was constructed during the Great Depression when the state bought thousands of acres of land to reforest after the lumber industry had clear-cut the land. Construction of the park was in the hands of Civilian Conservation Corps Camp S-62, one of twelve segregated camps in Pennsylvania. They built all the structures of the park including roads, trails, a log dam stone fireplaces and a stone bake oven.
