On November 14, 2012 the WooFDriver set out on the Hancock, Maryland portion of the C&O Canal Towpath at mile marker 124.1 for a Mushing adventure. Hancock is one of the oldest settlements in Western Maryland and named after Edward Joseph Hancock, Jr.. His family operated the ferry on the Potomac River and he was considered a hero who fought alongside General George Washington during the American Revolution. From the Pennsylvania state line to the West Virginia state line Hancock is only 1.8 miles long.
